How to create an AI influencer persona (2026 guide)
Everything you need to launch an AI version of yourself — or an original AI character — that fans actually want to talk to, follow, and pay.
What is an AI influencer?
An AI influencer is a digital persona — sometimes based on a real creator, sometimes fully original — that posts content, replies to fans, and builds a following the way a human creator does. The difference: the persona runs on AI, so it can chat with thousands of people at once, stay on-brand, and work 24/7 without burning out.
Some are virtual models with millions of Instagram followers. Others are smaller, more intimate personas built by a single creator to deepen the relationship with existing fans. Both are profitable. Both are growing fast.
Step 1 — Decide what kind of persona you're building
There are two paths:
- An AI version of you. Same face, same voice, same vibe — just always available. Best if you already have an audience and want to scale the 1:1 connection without doing it yourself all day.
- An original AI character. A new persona with its own look, voice, and backstory. Best if you want full creative freedom or prefer to stay anonymous.
Step 2 — Define the personality
This is the part most people skip and it's the part that decides whether fans stay. Write down:
- Three words that describe the vibe (e.g. warm, sarcastic, curious).
- What the persona loves talking about — and what's off-limits.
- How they text: long messages or short? Emojis or none? Voice notes often?
- A few personal stories the persona can reference naturally.
The richer this brief, the more the persona feels like a real person rather than a chatbot.
Step 3 — Build the visuals
For a real-creator AI, you already have photos and video. Pick 20–30 images that cover different moods and outfits. For an original character, use a consistent generative model so the face stays the same across every post.
Tip: lock one signature look first. Variation comes later — recognizability comes first.
Step 4 — Capture the voice
Voice notes are what turn a chat into a relationship. A short voice clone — even just two or three minutes of clean audio — is enough for most platforms. Fans tell the difference between text and voice instantly, and they pay more for voice.
Step 5 — Pick where the persona lives
Instagram and TikTok work for the public-facing posts. For the part that actually makes money — the chats — use a platform built for it. Lore is one option: it turns your persona into a chat experience that handles texts, voice notes, and image replies, and pays out monthly.
On TikTok and Instagram, AI-generated content is allowed if it's labeled. Read each platform's current AI policy before you launch — the rules shift often.
Step 6 — Monetize
The main revenue streams for an AI influencer in 2026:
- Monthly subscriptions — fans pay to chat with the persona.
- Pay-per-message or unlocks — premium replies, voice notes, photo sets.
- Brand deals — for personas with public reach.
- Tips — small but adds up at scale.
Subscriptions are the most predictable. A persona with 500 paying fans at $10/mo is $5,000/mo in recurring revenue — without scheduling a single shoot.
Is it profitable?
Yes — but the economics work best when the persona has a clear niche and a real connection with fans, not just volume. The creators making the most aren't the ones with the biggest following. They're the ones whose persona feels worth talking to every day.
Getting started
If you're a creator who already has an audience, the fastest path is an AI version of yourself. Onboard once — photos, voice, a few personal stories — and the persona handles the rest.
That's what Lore was built for. Setup takes about 15 minutes and your persona runs on its own from there.
